The Getty Center

The Getty Center is an art museum in the foothills of the Santa Monica mountains. The building was designed by architect Richard Meier and is a stunning example of Modernism executed in classical materials such a travertine marble. The views over the Los Angeles city are incredible.

The gardens and the architecture are just as interesting as the amazing art inside the buildings.

And to add an additional element of excitement to our visit, The Poolboy chose to hire a car and drive there. Once we got our heads around the wrong side of the road being the right side of the road (or the right side being the right side), and set up the GPS navigation system, we issued stern warnings to the girls in the backseat as to what would happen to the first person that uttered a sound to distract our concentration. We even had to get on and off a freeway.

We survived to tell the tale. White-knuckled, but alive.

Luckily The Getty Center was worth the adventure.
