The Metropolitan Museum with a local

We met our NYC-native friend for her to show us what she likes best about the Metropolitan Museum. She took us straight to the Christmas tree and Neapolitan Baroque Creche. It was donated by someone she knew, and she usually watches it be installed each year. It is an 18th-century Neapolitan Nativity scene with a cast of many little lifelike attendant figures. Silk-robed angels hover over the scene on the candlelit spruce.

Unfortunately the Temple of Dendur was closed for a fundraising function, but we were able to sneak a peek through a window in the Japanese gallery.
