OHMIGOD!!!!! Crossing the road in HCMC

I can’t tell you how many times I said OHMIGAAAWD! in the first few hours in HCMC. The traffic is unbelievable. Even crossing side streets requires nerves of steel.
We ventured out to find a recommended restaurant for dinner, and quickly worked out we just had to take a deep breath, step out and maintain a steady pace crossing the road. Bikes and motorbikes will swerve around you. Cars, trucks and buses you need to give way to.
There is total disregard for road rules of any kind. Driving into oncoming traffic? No worries. Up on the footpath? Why not. Dodging in and out between other vehicles? Mandatory.

I spent the first 24 hours in Vietnam flipping between a state of hysterical manic laughter and one of sheer terror. Then we got used to it.
