Hoi An

Hoi An, a town on the banks of the Thu Bon River in Central Vietnam, was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1999.

It was an important trading port from the 16th to 18th centuries and has a rich architectural heritage (showing Japanese, Chinese and European influences) which was relatively untouched by the War.

A French colonial colonnaded house (now a restaurant). Most French buildings throughout Vietnam are painted shades of warm yellow.

The camera clicked constantly, as the town was just so picturesque. I’m not sure we really did it justice though.

One of the craft specialities of Hoi An is silk lanterns. I’ll post some pics of them at night later.
