Drive-thru markets

Wouldn’t you just love to be able to drive right through the supermarket, picking up what you need and paying for it, without ever having to find a parking space and not having to lug bags to and from the car?

Vietnamese street markets are exactly that. Shoppers just zoom by on their motorbikes, and do the shopping without even dismounting. Of course, it makes for an interesting pedestrian/vehicle interaction. You have to have your wits about you as you wander between the stalls.

And being on a bike means that they purchase in small amounts. No two-trolly shopping loads for them.

They just buy what they need for the next couple of meals. Fresh produce, fresh meals. The way we should eat.

And they always have a seat handy when they need a rest.

Tomorrow we’ll go all the way to Hue.
