Thap Ba Hot Springs

One of the highlights of our stay in Vietnam this time was the day we spent at the Thap Ba Hot Springs just outside Nha Trang.
The hot spring water (which apparently comes from 100 metres underground) is supposed to be rich in sodium silicate chloride.  With most of the signs and brochures in Vietnamese, it was a little hard to tell what exactly we were in for, but the friendly greeter at the entrance quickly had us signed up for a deluxe package which included a mud bath, hot spring showers, hot jacuzzi, foot massage and a swim in the warm pool.
The ‘private’ (as in, we didn’t have to share one with anyone else) mudbaths were on a terrace.
The pipe was opened, and the mud gushed into our bath. It could have been toxic waste for all I know…but it made our skin feel good anyway.

We soaked in the mud for a good 20 minutes or so, and then were supposed to ‘sunbake’ to allow the mud to harden. There wasn’t much sun that day, so we skipped over that step.

Then we showered the mud off, had a soak in a warm mineral bath, and then a dip in a hot (i.e over 40 degrees) jacuzzi, before getting our foot massages.

After that we wandered down to the comparatively cool 37 degree swimming pool.  Along the way we walked right past the hydro-therapy spray jets, and only realised we’d missed them after we were dried and dressed.

After about four hours plus lunch, we certainly felt relaxed.
