Sorrento (NOT the one near Portsea)
The girls were happy to arrive in Sorrento and begged me to cancel our return car transfer to Naples and to go on the local train instead (as it goes straight through tunnels rather than hugging the coast).
Sorrento itself is a fun town, full of little laneways with interesting shops.
Citric produce (is that even a word…citric? I don’t know, but I like the sound of it) is a speciality of the region. The limoncello (a lemon liqueur) is an odd, but quite delicious, after-dinner drink, which originated on the island of Ischia, but is ubiquitous across the Sorrentine Peninsula and Amalfi Coast.
You can spend whole days in Sorrento just wandering around, admiring the views.
