To the lighthouse

After soaking for a couple of hours in hot water, we were suitably chilled-out, so we thought we’d just un-do all  that good relaxation by tackling some walking and step-climbing in the heat.

So we headed over to the lighthouse at Cape Schanck.

I’m ashamed to say that the Fairlie Entourage had never actually visited this site before.  I can’t understand how we’ve missed it, as it is a spectacular part of Victoria.

We went on a short tour of the lighthouse itself, which was fascinating and allowed us access to the balcony right up at the base of the light itself. From there, the views over the Cape were magnificent. However, the battery on my camera had gone flat by the time we reached Cape Schanck (too many photos at the Hot Springs and failing to recharge it before we left home…) so I had to resort to pics with my phone.

After the tour, we headed down to the shore via the hundreds of steps on the boardwalk.

By this stage, a strange humid mist had come in. I think the iPhone camera makes it look more brooding than it actually was.

At the beach we headed towards the Pulpit Rock in the background, exploring the rock pools as we went.

Of course, the inevitable happened and The Impossible Princess slipping right into one. Wet shoes, wet socks, wet clothes.  She wasn’t sure whether to laugh or cry, but with Britannia cheering her on, she chose to have a quick cry and then laugh about it.

This particular beach is (not surprisingly) called Pebble Beach. I think Britannia felt right at home.
To finish, Queenie and Britannia raced back up the 250+ steps to the top. Total madness.
