A weekend in Sin City
All the girls, and some of the (brave) parents did The Bridge Climb.
I did not. Someone has to take the photos.
See those flags waaaaaay up there? That’s where they got to. Britannia, Queenie and The Poolboy loved it.
Meanwhile those of us not climbing went for a drink (or two or three…) down in the Rocks to the library and examined early documents relating to the First Fleet. At least, that’s what we told the girls we did.
This was the view we woke up to in the morning. What a bonus. We had booked ‘city-view’ rooms, so were not really expecting anything like this.
Jet boating on the Harbour. Despite the plastic ponchos, everyone ended up soaked to the skin. We joked with Britannia that being drenched was a theme of her stay, after it happened to her for three out of the past four weekends!
Of course, the Opera House was admired and photographed from every angle…
…including from across at Taronga Zoo.
Paddington on a Saturday morning is a lot of fun. Breakfast in a cafe, followed by the markets. Then, Queenie spotted Red Threads on Oxford Street, an upmarket op-shop.
A group of teenage girls + cheap clothing + changing rooms = you do the maths.
We were there for ages. Britannia was especially lucky to be able to fit into a fabulous pair of Sass & Bide jeans with a price tag that was a fraction of their retail price. Queenie was very jealous.
Sunday morning was a surfing lesson at the very iconic Bondi Beach.
The girls were very excited to spot Maxi from Bondi Rescue.
Luckily, his professional services were NOT required by any of our girls. Surfing was a total blast. Both Queenie and Britannia managed to stand up on a board and ride a wave or two in.
And after fish and chips on the grass at Bondi, there was just enough time for Queenie, Britannia, The Poolboy and me to walk the Bondi to Bronte section of the Coastal Walk. Spectacular! We wished we had extra time to go the whole way to Coogee.
But our plane back to Melbourne awaited.
It was a fabulous weekend, made even more special by the great company. All the girls are such wonderful young women, it was a pleasure to be with them, and the parents were bucket loads of fun!
