Memorable moment: the last sunset of 2013 at Cottesloe Beach

For a number of reasons, 2013 had been a pretty average year for us. So I was more than keen to see the end of it.

We were spending New Year’s Eve at the Cottesloe home of good friends…so just before the designated sunset time, all the girls – old and young – wandered down to the beach to watch the sun set on that year. There was a stiff sea breeze which rendered it a bit chilly to be standing in the sand dunes, but we stuck it out and were rewarded with one of the spectacular orange blazes that the Perth coastline is famous for.

And then, as we walked back to the house, with the chatter of women friends and the giggles of the younger girls surrounding us, I reflected that this is what really matters in life. The company of old friends and the laughter of children. We went on to have a fabulous and funny evening.

It was a New Year’s Eve to remember.
