Liberty Island

Raining and cold. It wasn’t the best of days to take the ferry to Liberty Island, but we went anyway.

The security to board the ferry is more rigorous than that at an international airport and is repeated again at the base of the statue.

I’m sure it’s not polite to look up a lady’s skirts.

Visibility was limited.

We decided we were glad we hadn’t chosen to go up the Empire State Building that day.

We were windswept and shivering out on the pedestal walkway after climbing up the stairs to the base of the statue (that’s as far as you can go now).
