Just your regular day out in Melbourne.

Giant umbrellas.

Giant naked men.

Giant sleeping heads.

And teeny, tiny women gossipping.

Not to mention the newborn baby the size of a tow-truck.

The National Gallery of Victoria (International) currently has a fabulous exhibition of the work of Australian sculptor Ron Mueck.

Ron Mueck’s sculptures are in many cases naked and appear as if we have caught them unawares. They are incredibly realistic. Although some of the pieces may seem a little confronting (such as the iconic Dead Dad), the shift in scale, or expected twist to each, makes them accessible to all.

The girls really enjoyed this exhibition, and The Impossible Princess in particular took a great interest in each work using the kid’s information page she was given at the entrance as a guide.

Well worth a visit if you’re nearby.
