Exxopolis Luminarium at the Jam Factory
I couldn’t decide whether going into Exxopolis Luminarium at the Jam Factory was more akin to entering a science-fiction landscape or a fantasy underworld. It was, however, a fun evening entertainment on a cold Melbourne winter’s night.
Exxopolis Luminarium by Architects of Air is an inflatable structure half the size of a football field, and it is currently installed on the roof of the Jam Factory in South Yarra. It is entered through an airlocked ante-room, and then it unfolds into labyrinthine tunnels and cavernous domes bathed in bright coloured light. It is awesome in the true sense of the word. Wormhole tunnels open into spaces reminsiscent of temples or great churches.
It is great to live in a City that puts on such interesting events.
Exxopolis Luminarium is part of the City of Stonnington’s Glow Festival. It is presented in association with Insite Arts.
