Kicking goals in blogging!

It’s footy finals season here in Melbourne – the home of Australian rules football – so it seems appropriate to title this post with a football metaphor – kicking goals in blogging.

Those of you who have been reading my blog, here (and for some of the real old timers…on other sites) since the early days, will have noticed that things have changed up dramatically in the past couple of months. I’ve been posting regularly, for a start! And several times a week! There’s advertising over there in the side-bar! Feet on Foreign Lands posts to and is active on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Google+!

I’m trying to dish up really useful stuff for you to read. Stuff that will inspire or inform you to create your own rocking travel itineraries.

All this change has been no accident.

Back in July, I stumbled (as you do, surfing the ‘Net. Just to mix up a few more metaphors) across the fabulous Kate McKibbin’s Secret Bloggers’ Business website. First up, I tried out her free 10 Days to a Better Blog e-course. Daily tips delivered to my in-box each day that encouraged me to make some significant changes to improve the blog.   I learnt so much in those ten days, I jumped right into her Secret Bloggers’ Business Bootcamp e-course.

I’m not quite finished working through everything I’ve learned (will I ever be?!)  But already I’m a huge fan of the course. Kate offers lots of tips, advice and printable worksheets that help you get right on top of all those tricky issues like SEO, building traffic, drafting a media kit and pricing your advertising. All this information and so much more generously shared by someone with seven years of experience as the founder of the fantastically successful Drop Dead Gorgeous Daily.

I’ve been on an exponential learning curve the past couple of months. Each day, I’ve chipped away at implementing new bits and pieces, and achieving each little goal has been a special feeling. I went from thinking SEO was something out of an episode of Doctor Who, to totally understanding it, if not…just yet…rocking it. (But I will!)

I’ve scribbled pages and pages of fabulous upcoming post ideas, and I’ve planned a couple of exciting new features that I’m currently working on. Sign up on my email subscription form over there in the sidebar and you’ll be the first to know about them when they go on-line.

I am so excited to work on my blog and social media channels each day, and to spend time reading posts and creating new connections to all the incredible bloggers who are out there. I just wish there was more hours in a week to get around to everything I want to!

So when Kate asked from some feedback from alumni of the course for the Secret Bloggers Business website, I was happy to oblige. You can see what I said over here. It’s very exciting to be featured on the amazing Kate’s website. (With my high-above-New-York selfie profile pic and all…)

So for all Feet on Foreign Lands readers, there’s lots to look forward to in upcoming months…and if you happen to be a blogger yourself, and are keen to take your own blog to the next level by kicking a few goals of your own, you can sign up for the Secret Bloggers Business eCourse here.

Score!

(Or is it touchdown!?…sport metaphors will never be my special topic on Mastermind.)

I’m really interested in what you think. What would you like to see here at Feet on Foreign Lands?

Disclosure: I am an affiliate for the SBB eCourse, however I joined the affiliate program because I honestly believe it’s a fantastic way to learn a lot about the business of blogging, even if you’re a relative newbie like me. I don’t rave about stuff lightly.
